Hello Rodesia,
It’s me again—twice in one day, who would’ve thought! We wanted to take a moment to explain what happened on the night of April 29th.
Recently, we’ve been experiencing a higher-than-usual influx of both new and returning users. While this is great to see, it has also placed additional strain on our services, which were originally designed for much lower load. Although we’ve been working hard to improve performance across the board, Lunia is built on very old systems, and making meaningful progress requires significant cleanup and effort. With higher load comes more edge cases—and more opportunities for things to go wrong.
That said, mistakes can still happen—and this one was mine.
On April 25th, I deployed a change intended to fix issues related to disconnections and characters getting stuck. While we saw some minor improvement, the core problem remained unresolved. We continued iterating with additional fixes, but the issue persisted.
Then, on April 29th, the Square server crashed due to an edge case, which ultimately helped us better understand the root cause. After troubleshooting, we began rolling back code changes (not the server—don’t worry!) and selectively reapplying only what proved to be stable. As of 12:04 AM, I believe this process is complete. The servers are now back online, and we are currently running manual tests to ensure stability.
As compensation, we will be hosting an EXP event this weekend, along with a %%% LCoin recharge bonus. Oracle has also mentioned a few additional goodies, which he’ll share himself :D
So go ahead—invite those friends who always say, “It’s too hard to level up” or “It takes too long.” No more excuses now.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and truly appreciate your patience and support.
Thank you,
Staff
